The group affiliated with the Al Qaeda terrorist network, Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM), has claimed responsibility for an attack on a military airport and a training center in the capital of Mali, Bamako. JNIM is a jihadist group formed in 2017 through the merger of several extremist factions in the Sahel region. The group has been involved in various attacks across West African countries, especially Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

This attack raises concerns about the increasing activities of terrorist groups in the region, even in major cities that are usually heavily guarded, like Bamako.
