TANZANIA, UN TOURISM SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FOOD TOURISM IN AFRICA CONTINENT
The Government of the Republic of the Union of Tanzania and the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations (UN Tourism) have signed an agreement that will make Tanzania host the Second UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Africa) which is expected to be held in Dar es Salaam March 11 to 13, 2025.
A signing ceremony has been held between the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Honorable Ambassador, Dr. Pindi Chana (Mb) and the Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), Zurab Pololikashvili in the meeting held at the headquarters of the United Nations world tourism organization in Madrid, Spain today January 24, 2025.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Chana said Tanzania is happy to host the conference that is expected to bring together more than 300 participants from different countries in the world and that through the conference Tanzania will learn from those countries how they are doing in promoting food tourism.
“Kupitia Kongamano hili tunataka kuwajengea uwezo wapishi wetu jinsi ya kutengeneza aina tofauti za vyakula ili watalii wanapokuja waweze kufurahia vyakula vya nyumbani kwao lakini pia tunahitaji kuona ni fursa gani zitakazotokana na kongamano hilo ili tuweze kujifunza utangazaji utalii wa vyakula” Mhe. Chana alisisitiza.
Hon. Chana has explained that Tanzania and UN Tourism have been cooperating in various issues with the aim of promoting tourism.
“Miongoni mwa maeneo tunayoomba ushirikiano kwa sasa ni katika masuala ya sera na ukuzaji ujuzi, Rasilimali Watu na Mpango Mkakati wa Kukuza Utalii” alisema Mhe. Chana.
In another step, Hon. Chana said Tanzania recognizes and appreciates the important role of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) in creating international tourism policies, promoting sustainable tourism and promoting economic growth.
